Rieko is invited to play in the Oxford Philomusica International Piano Festival and attend the Academy this summer in England.

Rieko is a finalist for the 2012 YoungArts program of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (NFAA). 150 finalists were chosen from more than 5,000 applicants in the literary, visual, and performing arts and she will attend YoungArts Week in Miami from January 9-14, 2012 for master classes by world-renowned artists; performances and exhibitions; and the possibility to become a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts. YoungArts Week performances will be live-streamed on www.youngarts.org.

Rieko won the Avanti Award, a generous cash prize for any artist of any age pursuing a career in the visual or performing arts. The award is funded by the Joseph and Frances Brucia Foundation. Rieko will perform in an award ceremony dinner on January 20th, 2012.


June 19, 2011

Rieko won 1st prize in the 29th Annual San Francisco Young Pianists' Competition, Dr. Victoria Neve, Director. Rieko further distinguished herself  by being by far the youngest, at 16 years old, in a field of competitors aged through 25.

Rieko's performance of the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 with the California Symphony, under the baton of guest conductor Ronald Zollman was SOLD OUT.

Rieko was selected as 1 of 7 pianists in the world to participate in the 2011 Verbier Music Festival in Switzerland...

Rieko won the California Youth Symphony Concerto Competition.  She will perform the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 with the orchestra on March 20th, 2011 at Flint Center in Cupertino

Rieko's piano trio, The Soleil Trio will perform on the NPR radio show "From the Top" . It will be broadcast nationally on May 3rd.


January 24, 2010 

Rieko staged a Benefit Concert for the Haiti Earthquake Victims with friend and young opera tenor Jonah Hopton.

The $2400 in donations she raised were sent to Haiti through the American Red Cross Society.


January 10, 2010

Rieko's trio, The Soleil Trio (Rieko - piano; Kenneth Renshaw - violin; Will Chow - cello) won 1st prize in the Chamber Ensemble Category of the Mondavi Young Artists' Competition, a statewide competition in California.
